Did you know…
… The Blue Jackets are one of only four NHL teams, active through the 2020-21 season, to never have made the Stanley Cup Finals (ARI, MIN, WIN).
… Blue Jackets Nathan Horton was credited with a goal in a game in which he didn’t officially play. On 3/10/14, March 10th, 2014, Horton scored less than 3 minutes into the game vs the Stars. Just minutes later, Stars Rich Peverley went into cardiac arrest on the bench halting the game due to the critical emergency. Peverley survived but would never play in the league again. Meanwhile, the league rescheduled the game a month later. To play a full 60-minute game, they credited Horton with scoring at 0:00 of the 1st period. However, in the intervening month, Horton had suffered an injury that kept him out of the rescheduled game.
… The Columbus franchise chose the nickname “Blue Jackets” from 14,000 fan entries. The runner-up was “Justice.”
… The Blue Jackets swept the Lightning in their 1st round series in 2019. It’s the only time a President’s Trophy-winning team was swept in the first round.
