Quotables…

“We are the sort of people that make health insurance popular.” – Terry Sawchuk

“Winning the series against the Soviet Union was the best. It was the greatest experience of my hockey career, by far.” – Marcel Dionne

“The guillotine has to fall somewhere when the team under-produces, and more times than not it’s fallen on me.” – Dustin Penner

Did you know…
… The 1979-80 Los Angeles Kings had an NHL-record worst penalty kill at 67.7%.
… The Kings have made the Stanley Cup Finals 3 times in their history, winning the Cup twice.
… The Los Angeles Kings drafted future MLB Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Glavine in the 4th round (69th overall) of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.
… The Los Angeles Kings played the first-ever game at the Blues’ Kiel Center (Enterprise Center) in St. Louis, 1/26/95. The Blues played the last-ever game at the Kings’ Great Western Forum in Los Angeles, 4/18/99.
… Rick Pagnutti was the 1st overall selection of the 1967 NHL Amateur Draft (Los Angeles Kings). Pagnutti never played in the NHL.
… The 1978 Los Angeles Kings organization made a series of devastating personnel decisions during the off season.  First, after squabbling over a contract with future Hall of Famer Rogie Vachon, they let Vachon go via free Agency. Vachon signed with the Detroit Red Wings where he would win another 74 games.  To fill the gap left by Vachon’s departure, the Kings made an even worse blunder sending a 1st round pick to Boston for goaltender Ron Grahame.  Grahame would win just 23 games for the Kings over parts of three seasons while registering a 4.25 GAA. The coveted 1st round pick they gave up?  Boston used that pick to select future Hall of Famer Ray Bourque.
… The Kings are nicknamed The Monarchs. They play in Hockeywood.
